Slim fit is not for everybody, different shapes don't look great

Slim fit is not for everybody, different shapes don’t look great

We know that all men look amazing in suits and tuxedos , but if you choose the wrong color, size, shape, or accessories it can throw the whole outfit off! We’re here to help you with that. You can come to our store and talk to our wonderfully skilled associates who will ensure you have the perfect fit every time, but it may help you out to know a little bit about what you’re looking for so you don’t have to try on 50 different things before finding the one you want. Tuxedos come in different styles with different pieces, so we’ll go over those pieces and attributes today and best tuxedo rental in Phoenix for you!

  1. Rent or Buy? Most of our tuxedo clients are renting them for a wedding or other one-time event, but depending on your formal wear needs, you may want to consider buying a tuxedo.
  2. Keep is Classy: While it’s perfectly fine to play around with small details, it’s usually wise to stick to the classics when choosing a tuxedo. This usually means sticking to traditional colors. (Note: Prom is a whole different story! It’s so fun to go nuts and go for fun colors for Prom to match your date. Formal events for post-high school crowds usually call for more basic colors and styles). Bonus: Consider a midnight blue tuxedo if you want to turn some heads. It’s still classy enough for almost all events, but you’ll stand out subtly.
  3. Fit: Some tuxedos are meant to hug your body a little closer than others. Some are going to be a little stiffer, but making sure the length is perfect is important for any good tuxedo.
  4. Style: There are three main types of tuxedos. Classic, Modern, and Slim. Refer to the image below to get an idea. You can never go wrong with a classic tuxedo, but a modern tux may be a good call for a trim look without deviating from the classic look too much. A slim suit is great to keep you looking trim and show off your shape.

  5. Bow tie: Nearly every tuxedo calls for a bow tie! Sometimes a long tie is a good call, but the classic look begs for this classy bow tie style. Within the bow tie realm, however, there are multiple styles! Slim, large, straight, butterfly, etc. Try a few different styles to see what size works best for you.
  6. Cummerbund?: Not every tuxedo requires a cummerbund. These are often reserved for weddings and proms. Today they’re sleeker and less noticeable than the last time they were in style, but they can still be a great option for any tux! If you want to give the illusion of more length, this could be a great option. If you’re already very tall and thin, you may want to reconsider.
  7. Suspenders?: This accessory has come back in a big way, for both suits and tuxedos! Most tuxedos give you the option to wear them or not—so you can change your mind at the last minute! If you plan on taking off the jacket or unbuttoning it, suspenders can be a nice touch (instead of a cummerbund).
  8. Buttons: A lot of tuxedo buttons come, by default, as horn buttons. You can get covers, or opt for the best tuxedo rental for you with different buttons.

Getting Suits for Young Gentlemen!

Tags :

No little boy likes wearing a suit or tuxedo and it can be difficult to get grown men or young man into a suit or tux if all they want to do is wear jeans and a t-shirt. Every guy is different and it may take different methods of convincing to get your young man looking his best for a wedding, dance, Prom, or other event. Today we’ll talk about how to know when it’s time for a new suit for your young man and how to avoid awkward stages and unpleasant surprises when it comes to sizing.

  • The proper fit: Check out Esquire’s article on how to tell if a suit fits. If the suit is too tight or short in spots it may be time for a new one, but if it’s too long or loose in spots a trip to the tailor may solve your problems.
  • Tailoring: If your young man is rapidly growing and you have several events for that year (or couple of years) at which he needs to dress up, talk to a tailor about leaving excess fabric to allow for letting clothing out. This could save money on slacks and jacket sleeves more so than shirts (you may want a different shirt for different events anyway). This is also great if you have multiple boys or access to a nice hand-me-down suit.
  • Rentals: Renting a suit or tuxedo is fantastic if you need something extra fancy for a wedding or Prom or if your man is in the middle of a growth spurt and you don’t foresee purchasing a suit as a viable financial decision. Rentals are always a great decision, regardless of age or size of the man, but especially for those rare occasions your guy needs to look the best he can. Renting suits can also be a great way to find your style and learn your measurements.
  • Budgets: If you’ve purchased some all-purpose slacks and a button-down shirt that suffices for work, job interviews, dances, weddings (as a guest) and other events where “dressing up” is required then maybe the rare tuxedo rental will save money in the long run—especially if your sizing will change by the next time you need a tuxedo or suit.
  • Time: It you’re an adult and can still fit in the suit in your closest but you haven’t worn it in a decade, it may be time to retire that one and check out the newer styles, fabrics, and colors.
  • Comfort: If the man in your life doesn’t like suits or tuxedos then maybe letting him walk into Rose Tuxedo and getting his measurements and checking out different styles until he finds something he likes. Let him explore with the help of professionals instead of his mom, grandma, wife, or girlfriend. Just like you don’t want him in the dressing room when you’re picking out a nice dress or a bathing suit there’s a good chance he feels the same way about something that might make him uncomfortable.

No matter what you do or when your man needs new formal attire, be supportive and don’t get pushy or angry. Bring him to Rose Tuxedo and we’ll fulfil all his rental and purchasing needs for suits, tuxes, and more.

Survival Guide For Valentine’s Day!

Tags :

Alright, men! You still have nearly 3 weeks before Valentine’s Day! If you have a special someone who deserves to be swept off their feet, you’re in the right place for advice. Today, we’ll talk about how to make your lady swoon over you this February 14th.

Gifts:
Avoid gifts like appliances or anything “practical.” No vacuums, no blenders, no knife sets. Also avoid lingerie. While lingerie is heavily advertised this time of year, leave that to her. If she wants to wear something special for you, she’ll get it herself. Sizing is important and honestly, most men will mess it up. If you want to get her something she can wear, focus on something cute and comfortable instead of something sexy. Go for a silky robe or a pair of cute slippers. Jewelry and chocolate usually go over well, too, but don’t feel as if that is your only option. You don’t have to break the bank to make her feel special.

If she has to work part of the day, send a little gift to her place of work. Flowers, chocolate, a teddy bear, or a little note hinting at your plans for the evening will make her the talk of the office.

Flowers:
There is no rule that says you must give a woman a dozen red roses. You can stick to one rose and it just might mean more to her. Mix it up and get her favorite flowers instead of the cliché roses. Or, avoid flowers all together—flowers just die and that can be depressing a week later.

Cards and Letters:
Places like Hallmark have dozens (if not hundreds) of Valentine’s Day cards. Some of these are really cute, romantic, or funny but it would mean so much more if you make your special someone (even friends or family) a card by hand.

You can also write your lover a love letter (which can be in the aforementioned card) or a short love note. This doesn’t need to be three pages of mush, but remind her why you love her, the little things that make you smile, and tell her she’s beautiful. Be truthful and you can add a little humor in it, but keep it sincere and honest.

Activities:
First and foremost, do something she wants to do. Better yet, find something you both are interested in doing. This day doesn’t have to be 100% about her. Go see a movie, rewatch your favorite movie as a couple, or go back to the restaurant where you had a special date. If there’s a museum or an event she’s interested in it could be nice to show an interest in what she wants to do (and it’ll score you brownie points).

If you don’t want to go out of the house you could always cook for her. Even if you’re not good at cooking she’ll appreciate the effort.

Turn off phones and computers. Checking your phone in the bathroom or periodically to check in with friends or family (especially if you have big plans they’re involved with) isn’t a big deal, but put away the phone at dinner or while watching a movie at home. There’s no need to check Facebook or message your bros when you’re having a special night with your lady.

IMG_1083Clothing:
When in doubt, put on a nice suit. At Rose Tuxedo we can help you pick out a suit rental (or purchase) that will make you look like the man of her dreams. Choose from a variety of colors and styles. Choose a red tie, pocket square, or shirt for a pop of color and a nice festive feel.

Never underestimate the power of a good suit.

10 Reasons for Renting your Tux at Rose Tuxedo

Rose Tuxedo bow tie rentals

Maybe you think it really doesn’t matter where you rent your tuxedo.  You have many choices so you probably don’t worry about it too much.  When you do need a tuxedo, you might think that throwing a dart at the yellow pages will be a good way to choose your tux rental establishment.  Believe us when we say, that is not a good way to choose.

Let us explain:

10 Reasons for Renting your Tux at Rose Tuxedo

1. If you choose a local tuxedo specialty shop, like Rose Tuxedo, for example, you will be able to choose the latest styles and colors for  your tux, formal wear, vests, ties, and bow ties.

2. If any of your groomsmen or friends live out of state, the measurements that are taken at an out-of-state shop may not be completely accurate.  A tuxedo rental specialty shop will have back-up suits and tuxedos and will be able to make on-the-spot changes and alterations quickly, and, usually, with no “rush fee”.  In these types of shops there are on-site professional tailors.

3.  If you decide to rent your tux from a bridal shop, you need to know that they usually get their tuxes from a wholesale catalog.  What this means is that they do not own the tuxes, and the tuxes will probably come from out-of-state.  This can create problems with fitting, added fees, and the return policy.  Bridal shops have to get their tuxedos back fast so that they can clean it and mail it back in short order and the tux’s usually don’t until a day before the event-scary.

4.  Mobile tuxedo rental companies have many of the same problems that are found when renting from a bridal shop.  There inventory is in another state.  There is no tailor available to alter and fit your tux for the special event.  After you pay or make a deposit, there is no brick and mortar shop where you can go to make sure that get what you wanted.  There is no press machine to make sure your tux is crisp and looks sharp for the occasion.

5.  If you rent from a mobile tuxedo rental, you are not going to be given any lowered prices or great promotions, and it’s possible your tux will not arrive in time. Things may workout great and no problems but you never know, big gamble for a big day.

6.  Rose Tuxedo Arizona has three convenient locations.  They are easy to get to and the staff is serious about their customer service.  That is why their business has been so successful over the last 30 years.

7.  Measuring to fit a suit or tuxedo is not an exact science.  Even Rose Tuxedo with warehouses full of formal wear, onsite  tailors, and friendships with other tuxedo stores who will often work collaboratively with Rose, there can still be problems.  Needless to say, if that is the case, wouldn’t you rather be working with Rose than anyone else.  Rose will find a way to make it all happen.

8.  And then, there is Men’s Wearhouse.  All of their inventory comes from a big plant in Houston, Texas.  With this company, you have machines, conveyor belts, and lasers shipping suits out to other states.  Wouldn’t you rather have a face that you can look at; a person who will make sure you get what you need?

9.  The high overhead of the big box stores is going to increase the amount of money you pay for a rental from Men’s Wearhouse, and other big corporations like them.  Pay less and get personal service from Rose Tuxedo Arizona.  For over ten years, Rose has assisted men who rented their tux from MW.  When they got the tux, it didn’t fit and they couldn’t get another one in time.  Rose stepped in.

10.  When you shop locally, you are not just helping the business where you shop.  You are also helping the local economy.  When the local economy is in good condition, everyone can rent more tuxedos.  Get the point?

Ever wondered where the idea of a tuxedo began in the first place?  Apparently it all started with a guy name Pierre Lorillard IV, French, of course.  He helped create an area of land near New York City called Tuxedo Park on some land that had probably been stolen from the Algonquin Tribe.  The chief’s name was a word that sounded a lot like Tuxedo to the white men, so that is what they named the land. Lorillard rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous of the 19th century, and soon the property became a hunting and fishing area for the wealthy, and then avenue for many expensive mansions.  They even had their own extremely exclusive club and named it the Tuxedo Club.

At one of the fancy balls, Pierre decided he did not want to wear the usual long tailcoat with white tie of that era.  Instead he had a tailor of the English royalty make a suit for him which consisted of a shorter jacket, like the ones worn for fox hunting, except in black.  In the end, Pierre did not wear the suit to the ball, but his raucous son did wear a suit like the one designed for his father.

Because of the status of the Lorillard family, the style was immediately imitated.  In a short time, men were appearing in their “tuxedos” at the fanciest area of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, assuring the acceptance of this new fashion statement.  Now, the tuxedo, in many forms, is universally accepted as the fashion norm for formal occasions.  It still has the power to make the wearer feel a little rich and famous himself.

You will have that feeling, too when you don your attire at Rose Tuxedo, serving Chandler, AZ.  Come in; pick your style and color; and find out how a tuxedo can change the way you feel about yourself.  It really is an ego-booster.
